Singapore's annual celebration of the heartlands - The Heartlands Festival 2023 took placed from 1 December 2023 to 31 January 2024. Taking on the theme “Celebrating the Community”, this Heartlands Festival renewed focus on connecting with younger generations, sustaining placemaking efforts and enhancing community bonds.
Launched in 2021, the Heartlands Festival is organised by Heartland Enterprise Centre Singapore (HECS) and supported by The Federation of Merchants’ Associations, Singapore (FMAS), Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG), Housing & Development Board (HDB), and People’s Association (PA).
The closing of Heartlands Festival 2023 appreciation luncheon was officiated by Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Ministry of National Development Deputy Government Whip Sim Ann.
A poignant reflection on the shared experiences that have brought the heartlands to life, spotlighting the evolution and growth of the Heartlands Festival across its three editions from 2021 to 2023, and other accomplishments that underscore the festival’s significant impact on Singapore community and local businesses positive progress.
The Heartlands Festival 2023/2024 has been a resounding success through the Heartlands Festival Lucky Draw, Heartlands Odyssey and Heartlands Quest – providing a boost to an estimated 20,000 heartland businesses across Singapore. Heartlands Festival 2023 has also rallied over 50 Merchants’ and Hawkers’ Associations to organise more than 100 hyperlocal activations in the neighbourhood and town centres across Singapore.
