National Geographic Channel and Canon Singapore EOS Young Photographer Awards regional launch was graced by award winning photographer Joe Riis. Held in South East Asia across  Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia,  Singapore and Vietnam, the inaugural photo contest aim to cultivate youths  to discover and pursue passion in photography.

Joe Riis whose videos are telecasted on National Geographic Channel and photographs published in the magazines shared his photography tips,  experience and advice for photography lovers at National Geographic Channel  and Canon EOS Photography Seminar.
 
Canon 5DmarkIII is Joe’s current camera and he likes the high ISO that is able to capture details that one can  not see with the naked eye for  wildlife shots.
 
Always passionate about photography, Joe wants to inspire young photographers and shares that passion, dedication and aspiration   is the reality of work. Always photograph what you are passion about, what you know best and care about and try shooting from a different perspective.

At the media round table, Joe Riis’s advice on Canon EOS Young Photographers Awards participants is to try shooting interesting subjects in dramatic lightning and patterns in new perspective to showcase a photograph in vibrant hues with wow factor inline with Canon Celebration of Colours theme.
 
An ultimate photographer’s dream to attend an all expenses paid prestigious National Geographic Photography Expedition in the US with Canon EOS 60D DSLR camera and an 18-55mm IS II lens together with a National Geographic Photographer  as an active participant on the natural, cultural and social trail is the grand prize for “A Celebration of Colour”  winning photo.

A Canon EOS 650D digital SLR camera with an 18-55mm IS II lens for the 1st runner-up and a Canon EOS 1100D digital SLR camera with an 18-55mm IS II lens for the 2nd runner-up will help aspiring photographers develop their skills further to realise their dreams as a professional photographer.Judges includes a panel of experts from both Canon and the National Geographic Channel.
 
Additionally, Voter’s Choice Award will be given to the entry with the most ‘likes’ for a special colour theme posted on the CanonYPA website (www.celebrationofcolour.com) every two weeks, from 9 April 2013 to 3 June 2013. The winner will walk away with Canon EOS camera bag and National Geographic Channel photo book while voters will win Canon EOS Thumb drive and National Geographic backpack.
